Anyone finished it yet? What happens at the end? Any spoilers for us to enjoy so we can save ourselves 9-10 hours watching it?

    What a stupid post.

No spoilers from me. Just watched the first two episodes and I like it so far but probably too early to give a proper review. Interesting trivia. They dedicate the second episode to Ju Kun, who disappeared on the Malaysian Air flight MH370. He was their martial arts stunt guy I believe.

Two episodes in and looking forward to seeing where this story goes.

So did anyone bother with this? I thought it was excellent. I noticed a lot of negative reviews talking about it being slow, unsure of where it wanted to go. I thought it was as slow as it needed to be with very interesting characters, intrigue, kung fu and more. Well worth a look. If you want action every minute don't bother. If you want an interesting story set in an interesting time in history that is well played (with a stand out bad guy imo) then by all means press play.

I am 5 episodes in and enjoying it, Benedict Wong is great as Khan and that bad guy is such an unlikeable character ;)

Watched it all and liked it a lot.

    Only downside for me was;
I thought it was pretty obvious who the traitor in the court was

Flew through it there over two evening. Really enjoyed. Thought it was well paced and allowed for the plot lines and characters to develop quite naturally. Looks amazing, obvious some investment went into it. Actor who plays Khan has real gravitas and did a fantastic job.

It's like meeting a beautiful girl and realising after chatting to her for a few minutes that she is absolutely vapid. The cinematography is magnificent, the costumes are great, the acting is mostly wooden, the accents are weird, the storytelling is dreadful.

Funnily enough it really improved towards the end as the story built to something of a climax, and it gave the actors something to do. There was also a lot less gratuitous boobs towards the end, which again helped the story. The whole kung fu side again just appeared gratuitous, and unfortunately both the nude and kung fu scenes served only to distract you from whatever story arc was building.

I enjoyed watching it, but it's a real disappointment that considering the amount of money that was spent they seem to have forgotten about buying a good script.

Just noticed this new series on Netflix.

Watched the first episode, seems a bit CGI heavy, suppose that was going to be a given, but looks good.

Kind of game of thrones vibe though true, can't vouch for it's historical accuracy though

I really liked the season. Visually fantastic with some really good martial art fights. Delighted it got renewed.

When I finished the season I went online to check out some of the reviews and was surprised by mostly negative comments I read. A lot of the negativity is unfair and completely contradictory IMHO. One of the few negative things I found with the season was not enough martial art fighting, however that's a minor gripe.

I didn't binge watch this show as I think the pacing isn't suited to it.

    Bring on season 2!

Halfway through this now. Overall I like it but it's seriously flawed with some pretty weak writing at times (as pointed out by others). And ultimately I find the fight scenes very difficult to connect to. They seem woefully unrealistic for an historical drama like this.

The biggest thing that breaks my suspension of belief is the Hundred Eyes character. Dude is blind. I'd beat this guy up. Having him be some kind of unbeatable fighter is just nonsense.

I read a review where the person said the show was good but complained that you have to watch it on a 11 inch laptop on your knee.

It has its flaws but stuff like that and Marco being white are quite poor complaints. They're up there with the review where someone complained that doctor who clashed with the x factor and strictly come dancing.

Just discovered this series :P ...last to the party. 2 episodes in and i cannot understand why it got such awful reviews on places like Rotten Tomatoes. I think it's a lavish production set and costume wise, great cinematography, atmospheric, reasonably well-paced in terms of story...
Okay I will shut up now as ye are probably Marco Who? at this late stage :)

Just finished season 2 now. I thought it was fantastic.

    ***Full 2nd season spoilers below***

Really loved the first episode and the introduction of Lotus (Michelle Yeoh of crouching tiger). Had a very epic feel to it.

A few WTF moments for sure. The killing if the child emperor was tough scene to watch.

The Ahmad flashback...well....scarlet for him lol. When I heard the woman humming I first thought maybe a woman from his village...then wait is that his sister...then ewww he just boned his MOTHER?

Great fight scenes and felt really sorry for Kokachin.

Nice surprise to see Gabriel Byrne as the pope, pity just in for 1 episode.

In season 1 I thought Jingim character was a bit of a weak point, however felt this season he was much stronger character. All the characters were much stronger this year.

For me this was a 10/10 easily. I'm not too not picky with certain elements or loop holes in the story. It's quality entertainment.

A season 3 would be amazing. Looks like the Christian's are the big threat.

Excellent second season. Plot progression was a little bit disjointed in parts but the quality of the acting and production made up for it. Really hope it comes back for a third season.

Just watched this and wasn't expecting much after reading some reviews. Really enjoyed it and definitely hope it continues for a third season.

Just finished Season 2. I thought it was good.

I felt a bit weakened by not fully remembering Season 1. I did a quick google for a recap but 2 youtube videos later hadn't really helped. Anyone have one I can recommend to others?

Anyway I belted away into it. I'd thought the first season was good so expectations weren't low. I felt this delivered well especially this year where it can feel hard to stand out.

    - The story was interesting
    - I think (hope) it's educating me (somewhat close to accurately) on culture from the time
    - The camera work and direction and scenery was something else altogether! :)
    - The cast was so big, I felt there was a wide range from Really good performances, down to .. "it'll do" performances :)

I think I'm seeing the outline of season 3
I think they'll bring Marco to Europe by the Mid to End of it. Though I'd like to see them do some India from that period of history but I dunno.. it just feels like they won't. Remember Colin Farrels Alexander scratched the surface (yeah way different periods of history.. I know)?

I really liked what they did with Michelle Yeoh. Great to see them use her full range of talents.

huh? not sure what ye're asking but the last scene involved
a Christian cross in front of an empty Mongol camp

oh right saw that, but the water scene was in the last ep too?, just confused if I've watched the last ep.

Pity its over wanted to know why Marco Polo was so willing to work for Khan.

Think it was to do with his da giving him away as a slave in season 1 or something to that effect and then the show building him into becoming something like part of the Khans team.

If I understand how the Mongols worked, it was something like that.. join em or die. So they'd invade a country and it'd go down like:
village A says no and gets burned to the ground
village B joins up and doesn't get burn
    and so on
