Down driving on ring of Kerry, lovely scenery, first ever time down this way,the oul farmer coming out in me:)...spotting horned ewes on hills, isn't there a 'Kerry hill' ewe?....would be most familiar with the Mayo horney myself but to me th ewes here are a bit like a Donegal horny...strong short legs, big bodies and speckled heads.Any Kerry men avail to point out features in a Kerry horny.?

Have seen these also. They remind me of the Perth type, only with more white in the face and legs. Strong looking animals, but there is definitely a softer drop in them than say the mayo type. Don't think they would thrive on the hills up our way, but Im sure you would get good crosses off them for mules etc.

Anyone on here breed them? How long do they keep the teeth?

    They're not an Irish breed

"The Kerry Hill (Welsh: Dafad Bryniau Ceri) is a breed of domestic sheep originating in the county of Powys in Wales. It derives its name from the village of Kerry (Ceri), near Newtown.[1] Kerry Hill sheep have a distinctive and unique coloration, with a white face bearing black markings around the mouth, ears, and eyes.[2] Both rams and ewes are polled. Their wool is white, and their legs also have black markings. Mentions of the breed date to the early 19th century, and today it is distributed throughout the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. Though still not vast in numbers, the breed was removed from the Rare Breeds Survival Trust watchlist in 2006.[3] This breed is primarily raised for meat.[4]"

We had them at home super mothers...

    Oh sorry my bad.

Kerry hornys are better sheep - thicker legs - lower to the ground - Mayo hornys have spindly legs and IMO aren't as good a sheep (very simplistic)

We have a good few of these type of Kerry ewes, they are very hardy and thrive even in tough hill conditions, they are also great mothers !!!
