I think 16GB storage and 1GB RAM would be a problem though.

    Yes, with Windows 8.1.

what that kind of memory and storage you might be better off with an android tablet. Probably only worthwhile if you really must have a windows tablet. http://www.zdnet.com/toshibas-new-119-windows-8-1-tablet-could-be-a-problem-for-android-7000033242/

With Windows 8.1 Update 1, did Microsoft not improve the overall efficiency and install footprint of the OS to specifically target 1GB RAM and 16GB HDD systems?
Windows 8.1 Update helps you take advantage of the latest hardware innovations, delivering a broad array of devices to fit any business need. In addition to enabling our hardware partners to deliver low-cost machines that only require 1GB of RAM and 16GB of hard drive disk space, we're pleased to see more, new and highly-productive tablet and two-in-one options come to market, including Windows devices with 64-bit Atom processors.

Its a good price, i think the 1gb could be a squeeze though and the 16gb effectively means you can't install anything without using sd cards, which also dont count as proper disks in windows eyes, ouch. The 2gb models of this tablet provide a brilliant web surfing experience though and I have a feeling this has the processor for it at least. Pity it has no hdmi out, it would make a grand tv box for flash videos and only things windows can do.

Edit: its worth noting, this isnt a once off bargain or weird misprice, microsoft and intel are pushing cheap tablets with free copys of windows and cheap hardware, so you can take it for granted that tablets like this will be around for a while. They have been available from china for a while around this price.
