I have studied French and English and after working in different jobs I have decided to explore going into teaching. Advice appreciated on my options to teach these 2 subjects, and getting into college either in Ireland or UK. All info and links appreciated, as well as advice on grants or funding as this could be the deal breaker if it's all too expensive.

Think your first question should be is if you are a good teacher. Honestly. Have you thought before? Of all the teachers I had, and I had many of my school / college years, at least 50% should not have been teaching. Its like the way getting 600 points doesn't mean you will make a good doctor.

I'd explore your teaching abilities before making tracks into formal training, just my two cents!

To my knowledge its Degree -> H.Dip -> Teach. I think you can skip the H.Dip if you have a Masters, could be wrong there though.

Thank you for that, and no, I am not planning to go blindly into teaching. I've had enough bad ones and also a few inspirational teachers and lecturers along the way to help me in decision making. I am starting to look at my options, and appreciate people's advice on how to proceed with my two subjects. (I probably posted this question in the wrong forum, as I was just browsing through Education Forum, and ended up posting question in UCD, maybe bad choice). However, I'm willing to study in Ireland or UK, so advice appreciated, please.
