Nissan Almera 01 - Do I have an Electronic Issue?

    Hi,

    Car: Nissan Almera 01

Issue: Over the last 5 months, the car won't start the odd time, the engine won't turn over. Jump leads don't work when I try start it. But when I leave it for a few hours it works first time. The issue might happen once in a month or two months and the car is fine.. it's so unreliable. Pasted the NCT no problems for 3 years. (last passed last week).

Driving Issuee: I have noticed a few times the car when driving doesn't get full power, like i'd be going 100kph with my foot all the way down and it doesn't want to go faster. It might feel like that for 10secs or 20sec. And then it comes right. - It has cut off a few times in the last few months during mid drive.

    Electronic Issue?:
When starting the car - when its broken down - I notice the milage screen has a load of weird symbols on it. Maybe this could be a sign why its not starting.

Any suggestions? - It's a great car it's just a shame i'm having this weird issue.

    Thanks

I found this online: *it's related to the weird characters on my display

If your electronic instrument panel is acting strangely, displaying weird or broken characters, not reading accurately or is displaying nothing at all, the first things you should check are the instrument cluster fuse, the presence of battery/ignition voltage at the cluster harness and the continuity of the cluster ground.

Can you tell us what type of engine you have? The information youve posted about the instrument cluster is solid advice, I would be checking earth connections as the non start isue and the cluster problem could be related.

Check the batter poles and terminals probably worth cleaning with a battery brush or fine sandpaper just to eliminate them.

almera often have sensors failing - this might be whats going on here. Is there a yellow engine management light on by any chance?
