    Hi,

The boot has stopped opening via the central locking system. Im currently accssing the boot via the back seats. Everything else is working fine. Also, I noticed this morning the rear window wiper isn't working either.

Is there an easy solution to this ?

    Thanks in advance,
    R

There is an access panel on the trim inside the boot door which allows you to manually operate the mechanism to open the boot door.

The fact that the rear wiper stopped working at the same time would suggest that there is an issue with the wiring loom between the boot and the body of the car. The wires inside the loom often break.

Thanks for that. Anyone any idea how much this would cost to fix ?

Depends on the level of damage and how handy you are. If it's cracked wiring, you can solder the wires together and it's a pretty cheap fix. Another possibility is that the hose to the rear washer has popped off and soaked everything. It happened to my Passat a few years ago and I ended up replacing the lock and a few other bits in there.

Thanks for that. There was a faulty bulb indication on the dash a few days prior to this. I haven't yet checked which bulb, but I wouldn't be surprised if its one of the back ones, and part of a wider problem like the one mentioned above.

I've checked a few other forums now and it seems to be an not uncommon occurrence in Mk5 golfs. Tricky enough DIY job.

    Thanks again all
