Hi I am getting my tubes tied in a few weeks. Just wondering if anyone else has got it done and how they found recovery? Thanks

Not in the same position but I'd be very interested to hear from others too.

If you don't mind me asking, was it hard to find someone willing to do it? Or do you have children already and that's why they agreed?

Hey, I just happened to mention it to the nurse in my Doctors surgery that I wanted it done not realising that I actually could get it done. She wrote to the hospital for me and put me on waiting list. I have 4 kids so didn't have any trouble convincing them why I wanted it done but I did find one of the doctors a little pushy about why my husband wasn't getting the snip done or would I not get the coil in etc but the nurse explained they have to do that to cover all aspects

Ah I see. Sounds reasonably straight forward. I can't see why the doctor would question why your husband wouldn't have the snip. Unless it's considered more dangerous for a woman to have her tubes tied of course. I don't know much about either, just seems a little odd.

It'd be nice to be able to get it done, but then I suppose it is still surgery, so I shouldn't be too bothered about it, when the pill & condoms are doing the job.

Thanks for your post. Good luck with the surgery and recovery.

Surgery is surgery so they have to cover all risks as there is always risks with surgery. The success rate is higher with a vasectomy and it's an easier procedure so I guess that is why they have to ask.
I don't like being on the pill or putting hormones etc into my body and condoms don't always work so as we already have 4 and are 100% certain I am happy to get It done. Just curious as to how I will feel afterwards. I was originally supposed to get it done in November but they postponed it to December and with Christmas coming I'm just a little anxious as to how quick i will be back in action again
