Is there any way to transfer images automatically from an iOS device to an android device? It was a handy feature being able to transfer images between iphone and iPad.

I no longer use my iPhone so was wondering if there was some way of automatically transferring images between my iPad and HTC one m8, and vice versa.

Yes if you install Google+ and enable Auto Backup, it was upload all your iPhone images and videos to the cloud that are then accessible / viewable as normal with the Photos app. Google recently released a guide on this:

    http://www.android.com/switch/

This also means any new photos / videos you take will be automatically backed up. Its unlimited storage if you set your images to be maximum 5MP or full size use your Google storage. I pay for 100GB for $1.99 a month or about €20 a year and its cross usable with Drive / Gmail ect.

The software that comes with the M8 lets you copy everything from your iPhone to the M8. It is great. It copied everything including all my inbox texts over and home screen custom wallpaper. Couldn't believe how well it worked so kudos to HTC on that one.
