    Just got a Cheque from a bank

    but i just noticed it has my surname Mr Devon on it and no first name will a finacial institution accept it

    A bank will almost certainly accept it. The requirement is that it should be reasonably clear who is intended to receive the money. Just in case you meet a super-cautious teller, bring with you the envelope in which the cheque came.

    As long as your name is Mr Devon & it is being lodged into a Devon named account, it should be ok.
