Wondering if anyone can help, we bought our house a few months back and are moving in soon, we just got oil as the tank was empty. We got kerosene but apparently my father in laws thinks we don't have a kerosene burner. There aren't really any brand names etc on it. Anyone know of there's a way to tell if we've got the right fuel? Thanks!

Show a couple of pics of the boiler.

It's probably due a service anyway. It is very likely that it can be setup to burn kerosene by service person.

As dtp said a few pics will help us to advise you.

Just noticed that you haven't enough posts to display photos here. Perhaps you can put them on Flickr or Dropbox and post a link.

Anyway it is advisable to get it serviced. Make sure it is done properly and be sure the service includes a written report and combustion results printout.

ALL BOILERS/BURNERS can burn kerosene or diesel (home heating oil)
If tuened up properly/professional for fuel type.

Personal I perfer kerosene, it's better.

I don't think diesel is allowed on a LLD boiler.

correct but it doesn't stop people using it

what I personally hate is a mix of both kero/diesel can be a baskard to set up some of them

Geminox boilers are designed for low level flue with a diesel pre heater bentone (aluminium) colour burner for diesel.

    (Not Condensing)

Can you use diesel on a condensing boiler? I thought you couldn't

"ALL" Condensing boilers are kerosene only!!
But I've often tuened GRANT for diesel till tank used up. Then retuned to kerosene at next fill.
Not so sussesful doing that with FB or Warmflow.
Have been involved with FB useing bio-fuel. Diesel +rapeseed oil. Seems ok.

But no more bio fuel now ? Why ?

Also wondered if vegetable oil or rapeseed oil could be an alternative. The only think is it might smell like a chipper

Did you have to change the pump when using bio?

Riello pumps with green O ring on drive shaft are suitable for bio.
Also bio is printed on pump casing. On all pumps now, I think ?

Stainless steel oil pipe not copper.
Long life rubber hose for bio. not standard braided flexi hose.
