Nikon D7000: Lens for sports photography

Recently upgraded from a Nikon D50 to a D7000 and am having great fun shooting sports with it (mostly gaa matches and running).

A friend recommended a Nikon 80-200mm 4.5-5.6 D lens (http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/80-200mm-f45-56-d.htm) and I've had a lot of joy with it. Picked it up 2nd hand at a snip and it's been a great lens to work with.

I'm thinking now of upgrading lens and am looking for recommendations. I'd like something a bit quicker which could be used under lights and also to aid with DOF. Could probably push to 5 or 6 hundred euro. Have been reading up online and seems like the options are limitless!

Any advice/pointers would really be appreciated.

Anyone have any experience of Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 APO EX HSM? Might be able to pick one up 2nd hand at a good price..
