    Excellent find!
    Where did it originate?

Emailed to "select" businesses, what their idea of select is I have no idea, but as it tells you to distribute it to anyone you want...

    It was emailed to me.

It did not look like a normal mass M&S email. It looks like M&S sent it to certain select customers. The email came from someone who works in M&S rather than a generic address.

Can this be used with the meal deal? Not the lunch one, the one including bottle of wine.

Will they accept this in Tesco?

    Tesco refused this M&S coupon.
I left the produce at the checkout and will use the Lidl coupon on Sunday instead

Tesco refused me too. Apparently M&S isn't a competitor!

Utter disgrace. M&S are a clear competitor.

Tesco advertise "we accept competitor coupon" and sometimes, like in this instance, don't. This is another example of complex annoying misleading Tesco promotions.

Tesco, particularly in the UK, are loosing grocery share to M&S at the top end of the market. They are a competitor.

I wish I'd had your eloquence, JTMAn. Instead I muttered "what a load of bull", paid the money, and stormed off! :)

I've complained three times in two different Tesco stores about the same, though not M&S vouchers. Either Tesco's staff seem to be lacking basic awareness of the 'competitor spend & save' offers, or local management are making breakaway policies specific to that store.

Either way, it doesn't look good and probably explains why their market share is in the toilet.

Email Tesco customer service detailing what happened. They'll get onto the store managment to correct their knowledge deficit and send you on a little something to compensate you for the inconvenience caused.

After using a coupon today, I was handed another new coupon at the till, for 5 EUR off a 25 EUR spend from 29 October to 12 November 2014.

The girl at the till said the till was "randomly" selecting customers to give the coupon to. There were also plenty of disregarded ones around.

Is there an M&S store in the same town where the Tesco is located? I could imagine they might refuse if the nearest M&S was a distance away. Might be just up to the whim of the cashier - shouldn't be, of course. But I've had Tesco refuse to accept the Aldi 10/50 coupon when the transaction included phone credit, then yesterday used one of them for a transaction which included 20 phone credit and the balance in groceries.

I emailed Tesco customer service a couple of months ago when I had a €5 off €25 M&S voucher and they told me they wouldn't take it. The nearest M&S in a couple of minutes drive away so I don't think proximity comes into it. That said, I'm sure some cashiers will end up taking it anyway.
