Landlord vs. Tenant

    Hi guys,

I'm looking for advice for my situation. At the moment I do martial arts in a building complex in dublin. The building complex has become a hostel in the last couple of years and the owner has allowed our club to lease and remain in a room within the hostel. Recently I was confronted by the owner over a small incident which led him to abuse me in front of the people staying in the hostel and threw me out of the hostel and threatening to ban me.

I was wondering if he can do this to me, taking into consideration the instructor leases the studio in his property and I pay membership and monthly payments to train there.

    What are my rights/options?
    Thanks.

Are you a tenant ( do you rent the room) or a student in the class ? It's really not clear.

It all really depends what this 'incident' was to be honest, however if the Landlord has any issues he should at the very least contact his tenant who is the martial arts instructor.

The title of this is quite misleading as this is between you and the landlord rather than the tenant and the landlord.

I would think that the owner of the premises would have a right to banned you from entering his premises. It is hard to comment when we do not now the exact nature of the incident but the landlord has an obligation to keep the users of the hostel safe and if you did something that could be seen as risk to one of them then he is right to ban you.

In regards to the membership you paid. The tenant is not at any fault and I do not think he should have to refund you. He services is still available however you cannot advail of these services because the owner of the building has banned you from entering them.

Go back and apologise to the owner. I don't know what you did to be threatened with a ban, but the owner can refuse you entry if he wishes. A nice polite conversation with him should hopefully sort it out.
