Hi. Just wondering if anyone could give quick advice. I've recently closed down my business and cancelled tax registration. I haven't operated in the past 12 months since the last tax declaration so I'm presuming that I don't have to do another return this year?

    Cheers,

    DH

When exactly was the last tax declaration.

If you operated your business during 2013 then you must file a return for 2013.

Last year and did not operate since then. Only cancelled tax in July as I was not sure if I was going to continue things on or not. Essentially, what I need to know is there a penalty for not submitting this year? Given that I've cancelled my tax, I'm presuming that they realise the business is no more?

Would anyone know what format the Form 11 downloads in, i.e. is it excel, word, pdf etc..?

I have tried downlaoding the prepopulated form 11 (having completed the form previously online) but it keeps saving incorrectly and kicks up an error message. I have a new laptop so wondering is that the problem in that I may need to get Microsoft office installed first, to download and save the form in excel, word.. etc or whatever it is.

Any help would be great as I'm afraid I may have to do it manually and submit by post.

If you cancelled your tax registration dated for 2013, then No

Normally pdf, but i think you if you right click and choose "save target as" you will get more options.

I thought it may have been pdf also, but if it's only a prepopulated form that I then intend to update , I don't think you can update a pdf and I'm not given the option to save as pdf/excel/word. Only options are Internet Explorer, notepad,

    Did you download ros offline.
You will need this if you are downloading a prepolutated version to edit and upload.
You could just edit the prepop version online without submitting until you are ready to do so

Yup, downloaded ROS offline and saved down a form 11 in C drive, but when tried to open it, again it defaulted to notepad, whcih is no use. I think I may need to purhase a Microsoft office home package and see if that does the trick.
