    Using market exchange rates, you are correct. However, that's not necessarily the correct way that the price of a good should be measured in different currencies. Purchasing power parity is what counts:

    Yup I've read up on the above before and I suppose I was purposely simplifying it. But even so, there is no denying the colossal price difference, nor the consequence it has on what the average person in the States can get for their comparable income.

    Indeed. Leaving aside EUR/USD exchange rates, VRT really screws up the prices of new cars in Ireland.

    Historically and possibly it's still the case, when new cars used to arrive at Irish ports, they were cheaper than the equivalent models arriving at UK ports - I'm taking into account EUR/GBP and IEP/GBP exchange rate differences and spec differences.
