Value for Yaris

I'm getting a bit bored of my 1litre 2006 Toyota Yaris and thinking of changing it but wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what ballpark I might get for it on a trade in/private sale.

It has an NCT until end July 2016, just taxed to the end of this year, has 68k km on the clock. Black with body coloured bumpers/mirrors etc. 5 doors. I'm not sure which version of Yaris it is, but I'm sure it's a step up from the basic at least. Has steering wheel radio controls, Bury bluetooth car kit and generally in very good condition and well looked after.

In all reality I won't have too much to add to a new car, so I'm thinking a private sale would probably be better, and then go as a cash buyer myself, but don't know if it's easy to sell something like this privately? I'm just toying with selling it so I can have a change, rather than getting much of an 'upgrade'.

Somewhere between 3/4k probably more the lower 3

Old model 04s will make over 3 to be fair.

I agree with the above, €4k easy, €4.5k if you are lucky.

Thanks all, good to get opinions. It's all well and good looking on Carzone but people on there can ask what they like - doesn't mean they'll get it!
    And its a 2006, and not 2004.

    Thanks for the help.

    I know.
An 04 will sell for over €3k
An 06 is worth more than an 04
yours is worth more than the €3k suggested.

Huge demand for smaller cars with small engines. Couldn't have better than a yaris or micra for selling imo. It's pretty low mileage. Check dd for examples. Should give you an idea

Have a look on DD, OP. Most 06 Yaris are up for over 4000, some up towards 6000 which is probably a bit optimistic. I would think you would get 4500 if the car is in good condition inside and out.

Yes it's around 5,000 miles a year I think so I'm hoping that's a major plus point for it.

Apparently its a Luna version I've found out tonight. And I didnt mention in my first post but it's the 'newer' shape - I'm not sure what year the shape changed.

Weren't they troublesome the newer model from 05-08. They have a 3 cylinder engine.

Shape changed at the end of 05.
Luna means you get remote radio, mp3 disc reader, curtain and knee airbags, leather wheel and shifter, and colour coded handles and mirrors. This stuff isn't standard on a yaris.

Not so much troublesome, they just weren't as good as the previous 1.0L block (1999 to 2005) which was frankly bulletproof. One of their best engines. The newer body also had some exhaust issues. Haven't driven both bodies, I prefer the older style myself unless its the diesel new body, an extremely rare little number and would be my choice any day.

Not that any of that would even remotely concern a buyer in this bracket. Cheap tax, run around etc.

You'll certainly make good money here OP. Just don't be over zealous. Yaris's hold their value well but doesn't mean they are the Gooses Golden Eggs, sell it for what its worth or you'll be left holding it.

Some burn oil and the water pump gives up the ghost in them at relatively low mileage. Gearbox bearings can give issues too but it's not very common. Apart from that they are ok but the older model was a superior car in most departments.

imo the second gen yaris felt a lot cheaper made compared to the older model and the engine was a downgrade too, moving from 4 cylinder to 3.

    No, it's the trim level/spec

The newest data I have, and its quite old (6 months+), from a sample space of 90 similar cars, puts the average asking price for the private sector at €4925.

Depends how desperate one is to sell, but I'd be asking much closer to €4.5k and ready to accept anything north of €4k.

Friend of mine was trying to sell an 07 Yaris recently. 1 owner, low miles, metallic and in great condition. Made an effort with the ad and put it up on donedeal. Price was reasonable.

1 guy turned up and offered a silly low ball figure. A few timewasters texted. That was it. He ended up trading it in.

I'd have thought a Yaris would have been in high demand.

He was probably looking for around €5k? Lot of money for a very basic nearly 8 year old car. The Yaris used to hold their value well, but maybe people are copping on that you can get a lot more / newer car for your money if you don't go for a Toyota in general and a Yaris in particular
