    Hi,

Just started a new job and they need my tax clearance cert to stop me from paying emergency tax. I went onto revenue.ie and they were looking for different numbers from me in order to get a tax clearance cert online. I only have my PPS no. Can anyone help me as to where i'd find my tax number etc or a better way to get a tax clearance cert? Much obliged.

Generally when starting a new job you need a P45 from your previous employment to be registered with the new employer and therefore avoid Emergency Tax. If no P45 is available (i.e. you haven't worked in 2014) it is generally sufficient to give your PPS no. and address to your new employer and they can use this to register you.

A tax clearance cert. is seldom if ever required by a PAYE employee.

If you have worked for another employer you should give your P45 to the new employer. If its your first employment you would need to complete a Form 12 applying for tax credits for the first time. If you go onto the Revenue website and use the contact locator with your PPS number give the PAYE section a call and tell them you need a certificate of tax credits.

You can also apply for a tax clearance cert online yourself. It is very easy.
