Help me spend €6k

I need to buy a family car in a hurry, so I need the help of the Motors hive mind please!!

Our car has been written off, the rental car that's been given to us by the third party's insurance company is due to go back mid-week, I need to buy something asap...

Wanna help me spend my money?

    Here's the criteria:
    Budget - €6k
    Preferred models -Focus, C-Max, i30, Mazda3/6, Fabia/Octavia, Auris/Corolla, Golf/Jetta (essentially your standard family econobox, no French/Italian/Chevrolet/Opel/weird stuff)
    Min year - 2007
    Body type - 5dr Hatch/Saloon/Estate
    Fuel type - no preference
Engine size - my head says max 1.6 petrol, max 1.9 diesel. Obviously if we squeeze into the cc-based road tax assessment, throw all that out the window...
    Mileage - prob max 150,000kms unless it's a minter
    Transmission - manual
Location - reasonable driving distance of Dublin
Seller type - I don't have a lot of time to be messing around, so I'm swayed towards main dealer, but will take advice on this one

    Help!

With that budget I'd stick private.
Do you think you need diesel?

Kia ceed 07-08 would fall into budget and don't give trouble.

Definitely don't need a diesel, not doing the mileage, but wouldn't rule one out either if the car's right.

I know I'd get better value privately, but when buying my last car (RIP, poor yoke) I got messed around by a good few private sellers mis-describing their cars. I'm tight on time, so I don't feel like I have the leeway for chancers.

Any Ceeds jumping out at you? I'm only looking at Carzone at the moment.
I see these two: http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-ceed-1-4-ex-finance-available/7891991 & http://cars.donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/kia-ceed-1-4-ex-1-owner-irish-car-half/7782549 but I don't know how reliable the dealers are.

Both of those sellers ring a bell for the wrong reasons.

Yep, I thought so too, but I don't know much of the motor industry beyond the main dealer network :(

For the likes of yourself it's probably essential to buy from a reputable main dealer, unless you intend to get the car fully checked out pre purchase which is unlikely.

You'd be better off buying a bangernomics car for a few weeks so as not to rush into anything.
