    hello,

we have an old tractor which we use very seldom. We used to start it by connect touching the 2 sides together via a screwdriver. Battery is good. But the black plastic cover on the solenoid has broken now and it will not work.
Is it possible to start without the solenoid? How? Its an international 444, year 1971

    Thanks a lot

get the starter fixed , before some one starts it in gear and gets rolled over

for €50 to €80 not worth the risk

Get a new selonoid, about 25 euro. If the rest of the wiring / charging system is non existant, then wire in a push button switch ( about 4 euro) to use as a starter switch. much safer than standing in front of the wheel shorting the contacts. I wouldnt be parking her in a shed full of hay, either way!

Go to your local Auto Electrical repair place, places that do Alternators, Dynamo's and starters.

If it's an International 444, then wire it through the switch thats under the clutch pedal.

Yes roll to start in 2nd high or tow start same as car have ignition on stopper in and let clutch up when you have picked up enough speed.
Will get u out of a hold until you get starter fixed
