Having shopped around am looking to decide between a few options on bikes. Beginner to cycling so have limited knowledge in what to look out for on bikes or what best options are so appreciate your thoughts.

    1) Cannondale synapse AL Claris. 16 speed with Claris groupset. €740
    2) Cube peleton compact 2014. 27 speed with sora groupset €699
    3) Stevens San Remo 2014. 20 speed with Tiagra groupset €849
    4) Lapierre audacio 200 2014. 24 speed with Claris groupset €650

Suffer a bit with back trouble so looking for bike that would be least strenuous on the back.

    Help greatly appreciated

27 speeds have 3 gears upfront, the general consensus is that your better off with two ( a compact )

I got the 2014 peletron pro, the 2015 prices have come down you should look at a 2015 model cube. The same prices are pretty much the same as the new lower prices.

I got my bike in cycle surgery in Dundrum but these place displays the 2015 cube prices ( click the euro button ) http://cubebikesnortheast.co.uk

Synapse - Carbon fork, but otherwise low-quality brakes, plain taper bottom bracket, Claris works, but 8 gears in the back is a little bit low today.

Cube peloton - Almost full groupset Sora, 9 speed, carbon fork, bottom bracket and chainset Hollowtech II - construction lighter and stiffer. Sturdy wheels.

Stevens - the only one with an aluminum fork, but it beats the rest of the competition. Only one of the 10 gears in the back, full Tiagra, good tires. Unfortunately triple.

Lapierre Audacio - almost the same as Synapse.

And yes, there is worth to wait for new Cubes.

I have just taken the plunge in similar circumstance - have gone for a Giant Defy/Avail 2 (depending on if you are Male or female) - the 3 model is slightly cheapt at 850 but for the extra €75 I upgraded to the tiagra - hopefully it'll be worth it as it was a bit more of a stretch.

I haven't got it yet so can't give you any more advice / recommendations regarding it but it might be another to consider.
