Games you want to be made

Hey guys, I figured it'd be cool to have a thread where you can write out your ideas for a dream game of yours. Since the majority of us will never make a game, there's no harm in sharing your ideas. I picked PC games, because that's the primary system I use, and the system that is most diverse

Here's one of mine. (it'll all be on the one map)
Combines elements from a bunch of RTS games. (warcraft 3, settlers, homeworld, etc.)

Set in fantasy/medieval theme. RTS style controls, top down view, buildings on tiles, build queues, resource gathering, hero levelling system etc.

I want an RTS that scales upwards. The setting is a tribe of nomads, or a small band of heroes. (Input hero system from Warcraft 3)

You start out with these few heroes who will stay with you the whole game. You wander this expansive world, guided by needs (quests). You gotta go hunting, but since you've no shelter you gotta fight off wild animals, maybe bandits etc.

Skip ahead a bit, you meet a few other wanderers in the wilderness (not heroes) who need protection. (These become your workers/villagers).

The game now becomes a Village sim/defence. You work to build your village, by harvesting resources and protecting your workers with your heroes. (all on the same map remember)

You build up your village, make allies with other villages, trade, have small battles when you have the resources to arm your villagers and make soldiers.

The plot would be revealed that there is some dark force in the land, maybe by having your heroes visit another town to find it destroyed or whatever, but this sets the scene that your village is in danger and that it needs to protected. The plot progresses as you try to defend other villages as the evil force expands and you have time to prepare defences to fend them off or mount an offensive to kill the evil lord or what have you.

So essentially the premise is, start with a small team, squabble, gather, recruit until you build and army, defeat the evil enemy.

The game would be structure so that you can’t just defend and horde resources until you have a massive army and roflstomp the AI. You would have limited resources, limited units and need to use they wisely to avoid being set back a good bit.

Lots of save points and story drivers would need to be there.
    What about you guys?

Multiplayer Skyrim, I'd love that. Not ESO, that's bollocks, I don't like MMO's and their horribly clunky mechanics.

I would also love an RPG with squad elements based on the Warhammer 40K Necromunda game.

Depending on the game mechanics, you can enlist another hero from level 0 or you can revive them like in warcraft 3.

Another thought, to restrict the amount of power (ie; troops) you can get at certain times, the resources in an area would be restricted. In the beginning you can only equip your villagers to be soldiers with armour/weapons salvaged from enemies, or in hidden chests/dungeons.

Also, as the evil force expands and destroys villages, your village becomes a sort of refugee camp, and as the enemy grows, so does your recruitment pool.

    edit/;
The game would be a sandbox, with restrictions. Like in Supreme commander, you start in your little corner of the battlefield, but then as you achieve objectives, the map gets bigger, and bigger.

I'd love a Rockstar game set in ancient Rome. GTA/RDR style with Gladiators and the whole lot.

That's not entirely impossible, however I'm not sure about the modding communities being able to mod the maps. But some lad added the Garda Cars into GTA5, can't link to youtube as i'm in work atm.

I'd like a RPG/RTS/Space Shooter hybrid, set in the Homeworld universe, where you could take control of individual ships or control them as an army. You'd start off as an Interceptor pilot, controlling your ship like in Freespace. As you complete missions and gain ranks, you can change to more powerful ships, or maybe get more advanced fighters/bombers, abilities for which you would earn as you level up. Finally, as you get to the highest ranks, you gain control of the entire army, controlling it in the normal RTS way (but still allowing direct control if desired).

Not asking for too much...am i?

Sheep Simulator. You've heard of Farm Simulator, but imagine a game where you could live as a sheep wandering around an enclosed field. The possibilities are endless!

That game is ancient, but it allowed direct control '3rd person' of a unit. I recall it was a rather great game back on the PS1.

But yeah, your idea would be cool too, even if it was just forming a gang of pirates or mercenaries. But the restrictions lie within the game engine and how its managed.

Edit, also, now i have to get this game too. Got Dark Omen there last night :)

My answer to this question used to be a fantasy based Total War, but I don't fancy waiting 12 months for it to be made playable through patches...

How about a multiplayer survival sandbox that actually encourages players to join forces rather than shoot each other on site for some crappy loot?

Deus Ex style game but the main character does not have the ability to kill anyone. They must hack and stealth the entire game, being seen = death and game over. And no levelling of ****e, the main character knows everything at the beginning just lacks the tools to make them.

Bring back Dune series. That is all.

I remember wanting a RTS like command and conquer, but where your units within your army levelled up from rookies to veterans, and after battles, your army would level up too - gaining abilities in ambush, camouflage, precision strikes, that kind of thing. As well as an evolving campaign map ala Dune 2 & Emperor. Capturing territory forces the enemy to retreat and regroup to the surrounding areas, making them scale in difficulty for your next offensive or defensive battle.

It's mostly been done already ..but the new standalone campaign for COH2 - the Ardennes Assault/Offensive (released in a few weeks) has a write up that's very, very close to what I've always wanted.

Should be an interesting Christmas this year for gaming :)

That would be amazing haha :pac:

A 2 - 4 player elder scrolls co-op. In the game the players would not be forced to work together. They could choose different factions or one could just go rouge and be a bandit laying in wait for the three others with a gang of marauders. Not sure what would happen with respawns tho.

That or a Grim Fandango prequel.

Edit: And also The Specialist. I think thats what it was called. Great CS mod. Matrix fps. Just people diving all over the place. The skins where great as well. Neo vs Agent Smith vs Caster Troy vs Bond vs whoever else you could think of.

Yeah the specialists was great (HL2 mod, not CS :p).

Many many many moons ago there was a similar HL1 mod called Action HalfLife. Wouldn't mind that comimg to a full game.
