Hi, I am the owner of a Denon AVR-2313, MO 5.0 speakers and Raspberry Pi with Openelec player. I have an issue, I can't play correctly 24/96 5.0, 5.1 flac music. I wrote few posts in the Openelec web site but developer can't reproduce my issue. I am wondering if this if a Pi only or a compatibility with AVR issue. I'd like to test my Pi connected with HDMI on another AVR but don't know an owner. So, I am looking for a kind Board.ie user living in Galway area, who will be happy to help me. Please send me a PM. Many thanks.

I didn't think the pi supported those bit rates natively, only via pass through given my knowledge of openelec.
There are a few hard ware decoders which are 'bolted onto' the pi

    Hi akasol

In fact, I set up Openelec with passthrough but there is no passthrough with flac files, Pi decode them.
Developer told me the same file is playing fine with his Pi and can't reproduce the issue.
So I don't understand why it's not working in my Pi, is it due to Pi hardware, Openelec setup or compatibility between 2 hardwares.

It's why I need to test in another AVR.

Don't know if this is any way related.....

I'have an RPi and it had issues decoding some flacs so I stuck an external USB DAC on and it was perfect since. But that was trying to get audio out from the headphone port to an amp.

Have you tried running audio from the 3.5mm headphone jack to an analogue in on the amp just to see if there's any audio coming out?

Yes, I tried with analogue output, but when I activate the analogue output with or without HDMI, XBMC/Kodi switch to 2.0 (stereo) on both output and there is no drop out in this case.

Do you have a 5.0/5.1 AVR with HDMI input?
Could you try with a recent XBMC/Kodi version?
You can download test file at http://www.2l.no/hires/ choose Surround 5.1 FLAC 24BIT/96kHz column.

    Thanks

Unfortunately I don't. I have an Arcam AVR350 which does have HDMI in but only video. It can't decode audio from the HDMI.

Have you tried plugging the RPi HDMI directly into a TV and setting the output to stereo in XBMC?

    I don't have a TV, only a monitor, moreover stereo 96/192 and 5.0/5.1 44.1/88.2 play fine.
    Only 5.0/5.1 96 have drops.
