    Hi there,

So I am travelling tommorow to Dublin from Limerick with Irish Rail & bought a student return ticket online. I have only just noticed that my card expired in August this year... I was sure it was okay until December.

My question is: will I be safe to travel or will they fine me? How often do they check student cards if at all? What are the consequences? I'm really worried now & not quite sure if I should just act natural & go or if I should tell them my card expired in August. Advice?

Do you have any of these:

College ID (See terms and conditions below)
Second Level ID (See terms and conditions below)
    USI Card
    Leap Student Travelcard
    International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
iConnect Card (available to 2nd level students)

I have a college ID which has expired in August this year.

So you're not a student now then?

No, I finished degree this year but as I said, I thought the ID was valid until graduation. I even still have books on loan from that college.

Well then if your card is expired, and you're not a student, you're not entitled to travel on a student ticket.

Call them on 1850 366 222 (with the reservation number) and see if they can change it to an adult ticket.

    Thanks! I'll do that now
