Jamo or wharfedale

    Hi everyone,
I have a friend who is looking for a decent set of 5.1 speakers. I myself have a set of jamo a102hcs5 and he really likes the sound of them ,which is fine.
Yesterday he spotted a set of Wharfedale dx-1 hcp which are a bit more pricey. I can't advise him myself as I've never heard the wharfedales in action. They got great reviews online as did the Jamos. He would be willing to pay the extra few quid for the wharfedales if they were worth it. Just wondering does anyone here have any experience with both set ups. Which is best? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi there,

First of all what's the budget like ? And is he/she looking only for the speakers or an amp/dvd player also ?

The Wharfdales tend to be good, a fairly safe buy. Doubt you'll find someone who has compared both so the reviews are probably all you'll get.

How much room is there for the speakers? I think the fronts should always be a step up from the satellites; most content is stereo, like all music. It really helps with the imaging in surround too.

Personally, I'd set those Wharfdales in 7.1 with 2 floorstanding speakers, and second hand ones are great if you can get them in decent condition - good speakers tend to get better with age!

Just a quick glance at adverts found me these lovelies - pretty affordable too. (new user link blues, sorry!)

Rated at 90dB sensitivity and the missions are great speakers.

    Just a thought anyway! :)
