I see Final Fantasy 13 on STEAM now.

I've not played any FF since X. Is it worth getting at all ? Did anyone play it on console who can recommend it ?

I assume they've ironed out bugs etc and it runs fine of PC...though I haven't checked. Download is like 50gb or something

I've played it on the ps3 and it was interesting right up until the point where the voice actors started voice acting - there's probably an epic storyline in there but the voices are dreadfully overacted. When i'm playing an RPG i want to be able to relate to the characters directly by their voiceacting or imaginatively through text.

Pretty petty reason for disliking the game i know. If you can get past that cruddy voiceacting i'd say it's pretty decent. Although.. i've heard the resolution is stuck at 720p for this port. It'll probably look as bad as it sounds if that's true

Maybe we'll see a Dark Souls type port to upscale the graphics. Either way, i'll probably pick this up on the cheap. Had it on the PS3, and enjoyed it, but i never got around to finishing it.

The GeDoSaTo tool works with FFXIII so you can use higher resolutions now.

It's not a great RPG. It has a fantastic battle system but everything else about it is sub par. The entire game is a corridor, not a bad thing considering it was the same with FFX, but they are way too long and go on forever. Also the game doesn't trust the player to know how to play. The tutorials continue for 20 hours.

Also don't expect an epic storyline. Final Fantasy stories are really poor but FFXIII's is insulting.

Lots of people didn't enjoy it but I did. I only played it for about 1-2 hours so never got too sick of it and found the battle system to be excellent once the game actually trusts you to use it fully. Once you get to Pulse after 20 hours you can really enjoy the battle system. Also it's got one of the best soundtracks ever.

The sequels to FFXIII which are being released soon have pretty awful stories as well but the gameplay is much improved. As long as you don't mind the silly story there's some great gameplay systems to explore and have fun with. I'd go so far as to say they're pretty good.

im really enjoying it with GeDoSaTo, im about 5 hours in. I have it on PS3 and played about 16 hours in, preferring it on PC with the higher rez and for me the PC is more accessible than the tv nowadays :)

Some of the characters are awful and the dialog is childish but theres a fun game lurking behind it. The story is watchable just not amazing, i just mean in the sense that it doesnt ruin the game.

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

Please tell me I can't Auto-Battle my way through every fight. Admittedly I've only just started, but so far I can mindless tap a single button repeatedly to win every battle.

I don't mind that it's locked at 720p, it still looks good to me. Frames stuttering is more disappointing though.

It gets a hell of a lot more tactical later on and you'll have to use all your abilities and really micro manage your team especially if you aim to get high ranks in every fight (I heard some people just tank most fights with sentinel which works but takes forever and isn't much fun).

The problem is it takes a long time before the game lets you start experimenting with the battle system. The start is just auto battle unfortunately. It's a major flaw with the game but at least you can enjoy the 'amazing' dialogue. 'Mom's are tough!'. Ugh....
