What's wrong with boiler?

    Hey,

When I turn on the heat it comes on straight away but the boiler will be constantly trying to fire up without success. It's very annoying. I can hear it from anywhere in my house even though the boiler is out in the back garden!

It happens in intervals of 5-10 seconds.. Any ideas what the problem is? Thanks

Dirty photocell. Cleaning it will get you going temporary. If it's not sooted up.
But it will need a service ASAP.

Let me guess, Firebird condensing boiler ?

Thanks for the reply. Ya it's a Firebird. If I can't get it serviced for another week and I keep turning on the heat am I causing damage or using extra fuel?

    Causing damage.

Remove red plastic cover off burner.
Photo cell is 1.5" to the right of red button with a black cable. Pull it out by the plastic part and clean the front of sensor.

Get it serviced ASAP or pay extra for damage.

If it's still starting and stopping leave it off.
