I bought a samsung galaxy trend three weeks ago. It doesn't turn on or respond in any shape or form. I got it with carphone warehouse on prepay so according to the receipt I should get a replace ment phone once I return it and all the contents of the box. I'm just worried as to what will be stored on the phone data wise and what will they have access too. I will remove the SD and sim card but I presume the hard drive will have some sort of personal data on it, saved passwords for on line banking etc? I feel like I should be able to keep the broken phone. Am I being paranoid?

Part of getting the replacement phone is that you return the broken phone, how you feel doesn't really come into it.

As for feeling paranoid, some people will say you have legitimate concerns while others will say that yes you are being paranoid.

Personally speaking....no you're not paranoid...but at the same is the data that's on the phone THAT important? Seriously?

Passwords dont get saved in plain text, they in fact will usually keep a session cookie of some sort and little more. As for pics saved on internal memory and misc app data, that will be there.

If you're worried just log in to your google account and revoke the devices access. Same for dropbox etc. As it doesnt boot you cant purge the entire phone, but its unlikely anyone will bother trying to recover data from a dead board on a cheap phone.
