    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has installed Nordan sliding doors and/or windows? And if so, whether you'd pm me to let me know if you're happy with them?

    Thanks a million!

They have Agrement certs. Assessment as oppossed to (half-baked) opinion

    Hi Fatty Pang,

Thanks so much for your response - I really appreciate it!

However, I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with the window lingo :( If you have the time, would you mind explaining your response in simple, layman terms? I'd really appreciate it!

    Thanks again Fatty Pang!

If you go to the BBA website you can find Agrement certificates for windows and assorted other construction products. The certificate is, amongst other things, an assessment of the windows weather and thermal performance, its durability, operability and suitability for the climate of the British Isles. There is also an opinion on compliance with UK building regulations which are broadly similar to our own (the source documents in most cases). The certs typically show the results of performance testing and the quality control systems that the manufacturer has in the production facility. Factory audits ensure that quality is consistent.

The significant difference between an Agrement cert as described above and a test report is that a test report is merely a report of how the particular sample tested on a given day. Samples prepared for testing may benefit from ‘enhanced preparation'.

Having an Agrement cert does not mean that the window is a first class window – merely that it has been authoritatively assessed. It would take quite a while to explain the implications of some of the performance testing that is described in the certificate.
As to opinion see the tilt and turn thread for the sort of uninformed guff that the forum is prone to disseminate.

    Hi Fatty Pang,

That's hugely helpful - thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed response!

I'm thankful for this forum, as I'm not sure where I would have turned to for help otherwise.

    Thanks again!
    K

Hi I would really appreciate any feedback you had with Nordan? Not far from appointing a window supplier on our new build. Thanks.

    Hi there,

I don't think I was 'bad mouthing' the company; I was detailing my experience and in fact praised them also!
