Today I had to turn down my dream job. I was pretty depressed. The main reason I couldn't do it is coz I can't drive. It's the 3rd time iv missed out on a job because of this. I'm currently jobless, so being able to drive would seriously help.
Iv never learned as iv never been able to afford lessons, yet alone a car. So I'm just wondering is there anywhere I can learn for free or at a large discount?
    The sooner the better!

If you're on social welfare, ask them about helping with the cost of lessons.

Have you ever had a learner permit/provisional license? If you had one prior to April 2011 (and it hasn't been expired for 5 yrs or more) then you do not need to get lessons from a professional instructor. Basically, any one can teach you to drive, as long as they themselves are a fully qualified driver. So you could hit up a family member or a friend for some freebie lessons.

If you have never had learner permit, or you got your first one after April 2011, then it is mandatory for you to get 12 EDT lessons from an RSA approved driving instructor - an ADI. You can not sit your test and get your license, until you have had those 12 mandatory lessons. As these ADIs are all trained professionals who teach people how to drive for a living, they aren't going to give you lessons for nothing, or even at a steep discount. So, unfortunately, you are going to have to come up with the money for the 12 lessons.

Shop around, as the rates for lessons can vary widely depending on where you are. (You can find a listing of approved ADI's in your area, on the RSA's website.) You can often get discounts if you agree to prepay for a block of 6 or 12 lessons, as opposed to paying for your lessons as you go. Be careful if you do that & try to pick someone who comes recommended. If you prepay for your lessons in advance, you often have very little redress if the instructor is not to your liking.

    Best of luck to you.

Community welfare office, solas, whoever you can. If it is something that makes you more employable, they should be all over it.

Tell them that this is holding you back.
