    Hi guys,

I'm seeing a warning light on my 05 BMW 320i. The light is flashing the orange engine warning light. The car is also turning over on very low revs when stopped.

Does anyone know what this is most likely to be? Also how much it would cost to repair?

    Thanks,

A guess would be something to do with throttle position sensor. Are these cars fly by wire?

What does the owner's manual say about the fault?

Theoretically, the light could have been triggered by any number of things. Error codes would help to narrow down the fault.

A flashing EML means the engine is misfiring. The most likely cause on your car would be a coilpack.

If it is the coil pack here is what you can expect, this taken from my post in another thread:

My daughter used Bloomfield Indy BMW in Dublin 8 for failed coil pack on 2006 318i series E90, €40 for part, €60 labour. Fair enough.

Exactly same issue ( common problem) occurred in Galway, garage there charged €190 total, but that did include a coil pack, a €20 spark plug and €40 for plugging into the diagnostic machine which I thought was a bit of a liberty and €15 for taxi to get the part short notice.

    No association with either garage.

Most defo a coil there all individual coils on that engine.see plenty of those petrol bmw engines weekly and 90 percent of the time it's a coil so I'd go with that. Give us a shout if u need any further information on it cheers
