Door saddles

    Hi guys

My door saddles are not looking great - picture attached below. AT the moment they are kind of a cherry wood and I want to keep them the same. I was thinking of sanding them down and then using a satin finish wood stain of some sort. Would this be the best approach or should I just use a clear varnish (matte finish)?

Any advice appreciated - it's new territory for me! :)

    Thanks

Looks pretty fresh to me still.
Looks like the same tile in both areas. Pity you didn't tile straight through.

Anyway, I don't think those boards need alot, light sand and varnish.

Excellent - thanks Mick. Some of the others are much worse but the light is better in the area where I took the picture. The tiling and saddles etc. were already done when I moved in so not really an option unfortunately.

Thanks a million for the advice and super-fast reply :)

As above but finish with a coat of Diamond Coat or Hard Glaze Varnish.
