Morning all, just wondering what your thoughts are for Limerick today ?

My main interest is in the 2.25 - the €20,000 Oakbruce Properties Hurdle over 2m 2f.

Sailors Warn, Gimli's Rock and Jumbo Rio all won this race off similarly high marks and weight concessions as Guitar Pete today. Cooper is siding with the dual Grade 1 winner and I think he will take all the beating.

Guitar Pete is 5 from 9 over hurdles and was one of the most improved juvenile hurdlers of last season. The only time he was unplaced over hurdles was in the Champion 4yo hurdle race at Punchestown where he was probably overcooked from some serious earlier races.

He has twice beaten Clarcam and I don't think the 9lbs weight concession, though significant, will be enough to reverse the form. Clarcam seems to have one or two quirks about him and can't seem to get his head in front. He is 1-9 over hurdles but the headgear which he wears for the third time today seems to bring some improvement.

So long as the ground is not too lively Guitar Pete should have enough at the business end to account for these. Plinth, while respected, has several pounds to find with the main two protaganists and though the ground will suit he wouldn't have beaten Flaxen Flare at Cork had he not fallen and there's not enough substance in the form book to suggest he can raise his game for me.

Guitar Pete - 5/4 to give Bryan Cooper a winning return is the selection.

    Best of luck

    Pipey
