    Hi folks,

Im selling my samsung galaxy tab 3 and im wondering apart from doing a factory reset, what else do I need to do to assure all my previous data and usage is completely erased from the device before selling it? Im worried when some apps are redownloaded by the next owner that previous data, conversations ect will be visable ect...

    Any advice with this? Thanks

The person you sell it too will have to set up a new gmail account so any apps they down load will
    be for a different account.
How much are you looking for?

If you want to be 100% safe you need to encrpyt your phone, then do a factory reset.

Phone or tablet, same.to be completely safe it is recommended that you encrypt all data, then factory reset.this will keep all sensitive data safe.

Very useful thanks, one thing about this I havent quiet gotten my head around, ..... where I see the option on the tab to encrypt the device it says that this encryption password will be required every time the device is switched on..... does this not in effect prevent the new owner from using the device and or storing new data on it?

Once you factory reset your tablet,it will be back to unencrypted as it where, minus all your data.

Hello again. Finally found a buyer for the tab which ill be selling tommoro..just want to reconfirm that I have properly erased my data.

I encrypted the device using a password which only took about fifteen min as i had very little stored on it. I then done a factory reset. After rebooting the device i noticed some photos were still stored on the external sd card so i formatted the sd card and wiped everything.

I presume having done all this now, the device is safe for resale and any information i put through the device by means of webpages and applications is well and truly erased.. is this a safe assumption?

    Again.. Thanks for advice

Files are actually not deleted from the SD card. Only the pointer to the file is deleted. Same as on Windows. Any files that are deleted are easily recoverable.

The files are actually only deleted when the SD is filled back up with data. I can't post links as a newbie but are tools available with a quick google to securely delete the SD card so no file can be recoverable.

There was absolutely no files on the sd card anyway, only a few photos..

The thing im most concerned with is that ppl may be able to access previous information i entered on applications and websites... such as passwords, emails, viber conversations, ect...

I very much just used the device for media consumption..
