driving ban

    Hi can any one give me more information on a driving ban. i had a drink driving ban over 7 to 8 years ago , does it ever get wiped from your record?
    i want to get insurance in my own name do i legally have to inform them i had a ban over 7 years ago ?

    No, it never gets wiped.

    Most insurance companies will require you disclose it, though some might have a different policy with regards the length of time since the ban.

    Insurance is based on the principle of full disclosure and the question asked is usually "have you ever been disqualified from driving?" so yes you would have to inform them. Every company will be different though so you will just have to start hitting the phone.

    Usually, it's 10 years for a DD ban to be wiped from the records. As Mikros says, you'd best start calling a few brokers.
