2003 Laguna Electrical Issues

Picked up a 2nd hand Laguna (I know, I know) the other day and there are a couple of electrical gremlins I want to address.

Firstly, the sunroof doesn't work. Moving the dial or pressing the button does nothing whatsoever, no noise or movement.

Secondly, the rear RHS door does not lock with the keycard or with the locking button inside the car. All other doors lock fine.

Any pointers as to where to start for either of the above would be appreciated!

    Cheers

Register on http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/ as it's a brilliant site for Renault owners. Should get help there, though I'd try fuses first for the sunroof. Not sure on the door lock though!

Good site when I had a laguna was on that site a lot.

Sunroof might just need reprogramming. Cant remember how now but it was turning the sunroof switch through a certain sequence to reset the controler. I original thought the motor was faulty as my sunroof was stuck open.

Back door is probably the locking solenoid its built into lock.

Thanks for that, I tried the sunroof reprogramming - no joy, switch is completely unresponsive. I'll have a proper look at both over the weekend.

Also, anyone know where I could track down a user manual? No joy from Renault Ireland.

    Thanks

Halfords will have a Haynes manual
better than nothing but not great.

Ask the guys on Renault forum as they point you to a cd version you can buy cheap on line.

I have the Hayne's manual ('05 Laguna here), it only mentions the sunroof twice - once in general ("don't touch the mechanism!") and the second time regarding the switch. Two illustrations alright but basically prise it off!

My Laguna makes a different locking sound (more of a weak clunk) if one of the doors is open - e.g. the rear door (if the rotating baby car seat is left sideways for example) or boot (easy to close poorly if arms are full). So door maybe isn't latching closed in your case?

For the rear door, if you have to go at it - I had to take off the internal trim panel myself (previous owner/mechanic had fitted the interior window rubber strip upside-down somehow), didn't have too much trouble but you need to follow exact instructions (Hayne's manual or something else) as you need to know where clips etc are beforehand and how to remove it. Door lock is fairly accessible, e.g. for wiring plug.

If your specific Laguna drives nicely, I wouldn't worry about all the stories about them. Ours is driving very nicely after throttle clean, timing belt done and good oil.
