Bike Lights Recommendations

I am looking at getting these two lights. I read their manual and they say they're not fully waterproof. I was planning to put the front light on the fork, and rear on the rear fork. Now I am not sure, given the weather conditions over the winter, if they will survive the daily use ?

Apart from these I was looking at the set of lezyne lights.

I personally would choose the Lezyne lights. They are cheaper on Chainreactions and Wiggle BTW.
I presume you have done your homework and know that these lights are used to highlight your presence to other road users, they will be of little use as a means to light up the road.

I was thinking if something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B000UTL0W8?pc_redir=1412443837&robot_redir=1. I think that the battery life on rechargeables is to shortand I'd forget to charge them where as batteries last much longer and spares don't take up room in a backpack/ saddle bag

I always have a little cheap pair of Lidl lights in my bag/pockets in case my batteries die.

Rose sell owl eye front lights. 50€. Rechargeable. Small. Bright enough to use as a headlight if you need to

I use a Cateye HL-EL135 on blink mode for commuting. I bought it last year and haven't changed the batteries yet.

It definitely has a lot less than 80lm, since the advertised run time is 80hrs steady on 2xAA (5WH, 62.5mW, 100-300 lm/W so 6-18lm).

Fine for being seen with but I can't see the road much even on steady but my commute is either well lit or in the Phoenix Park where I need my night vision to avoid the deer.

The one I linked to seems better, any reason why you picked the owl eye

Thanks for all the feedback I probably should add that - I need lights as my only time to go for a spin throughout the winter months will be 6am - 8am or 7pm - 9pm. I most likely will be doing Dun Laoghaire - Howth - Dun Laoghaire. That's during the week - weekends I'm hoping to replace this route with different loop. Not sure how dark will it be in terms of lamp posts light etc.

I got a Cateye volt 700, cost me €110 in crc, super light, beam is perfect for pushing on and it's two hours at 700lm

That sub-urban route will probably be well lit enough that you only need 'be-seen' lights. OTOH, if you start heading southwest into the wicklow hills, you'll need to consider a 'see-with' light as well.

Pensonally, I stay away from rechargeable lights as you are out of luck when the battery runs out or dies. I use standard lights with rechargeable AA/AAA batteries and carry spares. If I get caught out, I can shop for batteries anywhere.

For seeing the road, I use a number of Fenix lights. A BT20 main light and a TK11 as backup. Both use replaceable and rechargeable 18650 cells so you have to be prepared but you can carry spares.
