Chocolate Cake Query

Hey, I'm thinking of making chocolate cupcakes but with a soft center.

My question is if the cake is cold (room temp) will the center stay soft or will it go hard?

Also would a piece of chocolate placed in the batter filled mould at the time of baking work or would i need to make a lava cake?

    Cheers :)

Providing it doesn't sink to the bottom, the piece of chocolate in the batter will (probably) only be melted straight out of the oven.
You could pipe filling into the cakes. Nutella or soft ganache would be delicious
