Hi all have a couple of threads up today, asking some random questions lol Anyway, i wax a couple of cars from time to time and I'm looking for a wax that is available in 5ltr containers. I'm using Maguiers and love the stuff but open to others. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where i can get it. ALSO No paste waxes as i cannot use them regularly they will wear the finish. Some customers like a weekly shine.

Paste waxes don't wear the finish, a wax or sealant won't have any abrasives, it's only for protection.

What meguiars product are you using?

I use the ultimate liquid wax. Its the best along with some scratch remover and autoglym polisher if needed. How bout you man?

I would have thought that wax would last longer than a week.
There are a few detailing suppliers here that could probably get you some trade sized bottles.

I've tried a load of different waxes and sealants myself, dodojuice, zymol, chemical guys, poorboys world. I've a new pot of autoglym HD wax that I've yet to try, I've sold off most of the other stuff.

The wax does last, they like the silky feel to the car. Dont have to use polish, clay bar or anything else once a thin later is re-applied plus the car is so unbelievably shiny and fresh looking. I hand wash them with a detailing spray, dry them and reapply. Cars look better than new. I have an A4 might see a thread from me about it, but dirt does not stick, water runs off and the car has been complemented by so many people. I have done this for a few friends selling cars worked well, obviously washed them, clay barred, polished and washed with a couple of coloured waxes applied and sealed with another. Looking into sealer at the minute for my own and go from there.

Have a look at Optimum car wax (no cleaners or abrasives). It is a durable spray wax, water based (eco-friendly) and with UV filters. You apply it more or less like a detail spray, spray on and wipe down. It works best if the paint is dry or slightly damp but not still wet after washing. As it is an American product the gallon sizes are 3780ml not 5 Litres.

Here is an old article related to automotive paint and waxing since the introduction of the motor vehicle, but still relevant to today's clearcoat finishes.

I'd only use a detailing spray for removing light dust, fingerprints, bird droppings etc or helping to dry off a car after a normal car wash. If you are dry washing cars a waterless wash would be safer than a detail spray provided they aren't dirty. Otherwise go with a rinseless wash (at least) or shampoo wash (best) instead.

The stuff i use is an autoglym product, its very easy on it. I cant think of what it is for the life of me. Its meant for cleaning it like i use it, I'm really particular lol My own shines so much and it looks great.

I will look up the wax, at the minute I'm thinking of trying the autoglym hd. I'm excited about it. I'm so lame lol

Cool, does it last when allied and do you get many applications out of the container?

Waxes/sealants i've used and liked are CG Petes 53 (paste wax) Collinite 845 Liquid wax and Menzerna Powerlock
All have given good results for me

waxes in a 5l bottle seem to be mainly wash/wax combos however AG and ValetPro do some

I haven't used it yet myself but a friend of mine has and he said it lasts a couple of months. A pot should last you a couple of years.

First off being "Really Particular about my car"
The last thing I would do is waht my car with detailing spray. :(

    Nothing like a proper wash/ dry .

As for wax.. Hard to get simpler than Collinite 845.

The area I am based in suffers with serious lime and in a black car represents a serious white water stain. i have tried to filter but its no good. I use microfiber clothes and it doesn't lift wax underneath like a shampoo can. Plus i suffer with dermatitis and for some reason its so soft it doesn't affect the skin on my hands like everything else does, especially any of the car shampoos. Just two cences is all.

    OK
get two water butts and join them with pipes top and bottom so as both will have the same level in them.
Over 400 litres of water when full.
Get decent rubber gloves and a good foam lanc and foam.

Limescale problem sorted and paint properly washed. Dermatitis issue should be fine with rubber gloves. Is there not some sort of barrier cream to apply to hands t protect them against this?

Getting a few months out of mine.
Did 3 cars, 2 coats each and not a dent in the tub really. So should last quite long.
It's very easy to apply, easiest of any paste wax I've applied.

Why would you need two water butts?(genuine question)

the first is to allow particles/ sediment to settle within it and the overflow from that into the second tank should be clear.
