Gloves for winter

Would anybody have some recommendations for gloves for outdoor photography during the winter?


Most gloves I have used don't really have much tactile feedback for feeling the position of buttons ect, I tried ones with the top cut off but my fingers just got cold. I also tried those ones for use with smart phones but found them worse than normal wool gloves.

you can try cycling gloves... expensive the good ones but they do offer a good protection on the back and they have a very thin (and grippy) leather on the palm/fingers.

I'd be interested in ideas too. I'm in Sweden and it gets to around -20°C so good gloves that are also thin are a must. Hard too come by though.
I'll think I'll try a good pair of cycling gloves this year and a pair of thick fingerless gloves on top of that to help keep in a bit more heat.

I've already tested my camera in the low temperatures last year (without of benefit of good gloves) and my camera worked fine so I will be going out again this year.
The camera body is a Magnesium alloy so it gets really cold and sucks any heat from your hands. How good are the cycling gloves for keeping heat in?

Mittens are pretty good, the ones that flip back and let you use your fingers. Sure, if your fingers are out a while they will get cold again, but conversely, your fingers warm up much quicker in Mittens as they share heat much more effectively.

Perhaps a pair of thin liner gloves and Mittens over them would do the trick

Take a look at Sealskinz... socks and all. Those outdoors shops must have them otherwise try wiggle.co.uk
