Festivals for lesson ideas?

I'm working on a portfolio to do with primary teaching, in which I have to plan 8 lessons.

Using the theme, Festivals, I have to create a two week plan of work for 5th or 6th Class. I need to use a piece of music or art or a poem of my choice as a stimulus, and plan 8 lessons (2 for drama, 2 for music, 2 for visual art and 2 for P.E.)

I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with ideas :/ I'd really appreciate it if anyone (especially a primary school teacher!) had any suggestions. I thought I might choose Halloween and find a funny poem. But I'm not sure if halloween is considered a festival. I'm not sure how I'd use a stimulus for P.E. either.

    Any tips?

    Thanks in advance!:o

I'd choose two festivals max - Drama and P.E. could even stretch over one. Ones that spring to mind are the German Karneval, and various religious festivals eg. Christmas, Eid, the Passover. The Carnivale of Venice is another non-religious one.
For Drama, you could do someone who is lost at the festival, trying to find their mammy and daddy (ties to SPHE!).
Visual Arts - make a festival mask, fabric and fibre collage for the food that would be eaten, etc....
Music - either find a song for Song Singing, or find a poem about the relevant festival and set it to music/ arrange body percussion around it.
P.E. - Dance comes to mind - either to the typical music of the festival, or as an interpretation of the masks they have made.Or simply team games where the teams are named after characters associated with the festivals (obv the non-religious ones!!!!!)

I personally like the idea of the non-religious ones from other countries - could help you bring in mapping skills, European history, even reading and creative writing along with the four subjects you've mentioned.
