    This is bugging me now - I need to adapt the way we have wifi in the house, and it looks like I need to change the system to mobile broadband, so I can continue to study while kids are offline.

    Can anyone tell me from these figures how much allowance this is in normal english terms i.e. do I need 1, 2, or 10 MB of data a month….:confused:

    My bills show this: Monthly figures (MB)

    219.1342
    211.1616
    251.1884

    Does this mean I use average of 2.5 MB of data a Month? This is with 2 teens online all the time too, which is why Im changing the rules:D

    2.1 and 2.5 GB of data would be expected for your situation, certainly not MB. Probably the 10GB plan would be more economical to switch too. I have been on boards.ie and facebook, both the toned down mobile sites (less pictures= less data) on my laptop and have used 400mb in roughly 5 days.

    According to the bill and customer services it is MB:( He said I used 249 MB last month, and that this is not even half a GB. Does this make sense to anyone? Thank you.

    There are 1000 MB in 1 GB, so 2.5 GB is equal to 2500 MB. :)

    I suspect these should have commas not periods. IE this is 219, 13.42MB or 220GB? Are you currently with a fixed line provider or UPC?

    250MB is about 20-30 minutes of youtube. I guarantee you your kids use more than that. If the kids are online daily you need 100GB or more per month. Mobile wont cut it. 30GB would likely last you a week at most.

    If what you are trying to achieve is to turn off broadband at X time for the kids but leave access for yourself there are ways you can do that withougt changing provider and having stupidly low limits.

    I totally agree with you about the kids being online all the time (except when in school thankfully) :D
    They definitely use a hell of a lot, and I do too but my provider (Three) is crap lately signal wise and I want to change to O2 for signal, but they only provide 1 or 2 GB of data per month and I fear it's not enough.

    As for getting the kids offline if I need to I can do that by means of a password on the router that only I have access to.
