Otherwise known as the Tour of Lombardy, the last big race of the year. Bring it on.

I really fancy Gilbert for this for old times sake. Sagan has no chance in this.

The leading group will be JRod, Valverde, Gilbert, Aru and the usual Crew Contador is gunning for points but he has never really performed at one day classics.

The route is very different from 2013 & 2012. Also Rodriguez didn't look great last week - so I think three in a row is beyond him.

Maybe martin can turn around a terrible year? Been v close in the past.

Dan Martin or J-Rod I suppose

    Sagan isn't taking part.
Always a great race, I reckon Gilbert is ideal for this finish, maybe Dan will go for it...
Inrng has a good preview http://inrng.com/2014/10/il-lombardia-preview-2014/

I agree that all the usual suspects are the clear favourites but I would think Kwiatkowski has a chance assuming he has recovered from last week.

Some saying Kwiatkowski has done alot of publicity and events in last week and may be tired

I woud like to see a good race with lots of attacks and maybe (if not Dan/Philip) and outsider win

Carlton Kirby likes Kelderman at 300/1, and I'm a sucker for an outrageous e/w. Hesjedal at 80/1 also worth an e/w punt I think.

Kwiatkowski is now of course cursed with that rainbow jersey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

Haha, Kelderman's been reduced to 100/1 since that post. You have to be so quick!

Good job Carlton Kirby is not doing the commentary becasue he would spend all day going on and on about Kelderman

Any chance it's also on the web?

Tiziano Dall'Antonio, Francesco Gavazzi, Jeremy Roy, Jan Polanc, Andrea Fedi, Sergio Paulinho, Paul Voss and Mathias Brändle are the breakaway. They have 5'50 over the peloton. Movistar leading the chase, less than 100km to go.

Hopefully Dan has the form he did at the start of La Vuelta, a win would turn his season around.

Yeah, probably live on the Eurosport player :P

    Coverage has started on Eurosport.

71.5km left. The breakaway have a lead of 4 minutes and 8 seconds.

    Deignan attacks from the peloton

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

Is Dan still in the peloton? I'm presuming he is.

Why is Gerrans not riding in this? - assuming I'm right that he isn't riding it.

Everybody needs a rest, and he's won enough this year already! It's Alba's turn by rights :)

Gerrans seems to have only entered Il Lombardia twice in his career, and he was a DNF both times.

Mollema has gone on the attack with Peter Weening.... Could be an interesting move with less than 40km to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

The Garmin-Sharp team are starting to move towards the front of the peloton. Hopefully it's a sign that Dan is feeling good.

Seems odd to me a rider who's won LBL, was racing in very good form the Worlds the week before, opting out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

JC Peraud has launched an attack now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 487 ✭✭drogdub

Great, Ryder goes to the front, must mean Dan is feeling strong

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

10km to go. Weening, Konig, and Hermans have about a 30 second lead.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

    Kwiatkowski is gone.
    World Champion's curse.

Delighted for him, makes up for a pretty miserable year!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,507 ✭✭✭✭dastardly00

He really timed that attack perfectly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,836 ✭✭✭✭Pudsy33

He absolutely destroyed them! :D I'm buzzing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 790 ✭✭✭mistermatthew

Now that was an attack. Absolute commitment. He was flying by the time he went past Gilbert.

Picture perfect move. No one was catching onto that wheel.

Get in. One of the best racing brains in the peloton.
