Just wondering what i can use as a temporary cover for a manhole size cover. It will need to be solid enough to be able to stand on or walk over. Looking for something cheap until I can get one specially made.

Would some type of timber sheet do? It will be in position until at least next spring / summer.

A double layer of thick plywood will do the job and should resist rotting before next Spring. Alternatively, buy a length or two of 4' x 2' timber; cut to size and glue/screw it together.

Either option is cheap and simple.

I used 25mm of OSB board.
It was meant as temporary but has been ther over a year now.
It doesnt get much trafic but it was still ok when i was out in the garden about 3 weeks ago.
