    Hi all

Anyone have expereinces of victory christian fellowship? They seem really cool.
alternatively, something modern and non denominational would be good. appreciate any advice as I do want to find my way back to christianity if possible.
    Many thanks

Mod: As the "want to find a church" sticky is more of a noticeboard I've spun your post off into it's own thread afterglow. It's unlikely to be noticed otherwise.

I'm pretty sure Victory has gone bust having got into serious financial difficulties on the back of their mega church in Firhouse. They would also be known for their prosperity theology which does not sit well with most Christians

Dialogue Ireland tends to keep track of their activities: http://dialogueireland.wordpress.com/category/christian/victory-faith-movement-or-prosperity-gospel-archive-abundant-life/

There are lots of options for non denomnational churches - where are you located and what age range would you put yourself in?

I believe they still meet at the Red Cow Hotel on Sunday mornings.

hi. I'm 27, and in west Dublin. The ND side of things is not essential, but I don't even know how to start to even think about finding a denomination? Any help would be great?
    Thanks :)

I knew victory before they were victory and based on what happened with their building being taken by the receivers and the resultant behavior of the church members, it's not somewhere I'd recommend to people.
There are a lot of other non denominational churches out there that are more stable.

There are quite a few churches on the west side of the city.

Dublin West Community Church now meets in the Educate Together School in Hansfield.

The Methodist Church has a new congregation now in Tyrrelstown.

The Solid Rock Church meets in Inchicore - www.solidrockdublin.org (in the interests of transparency I should note that this particular congregation falls under my supervision as their Bishop)

There's also the Vineyard church in Lucan: http://www.liffeyvalleyvineyard.ie/

Vineyard churches tend to be very modern, particularly with regard to music if that's your thing. They seem to do a lot of social outreach too - I've never been to one but I've heard good things in general. There are a lot of churches to choose from in that part of Dublin.

Saint Catherines is another church worth noting OP. I have been to service there a few times and the music is very modern. Nice friendly vibe around the place. It is part of the CoI but the Sunday service is nothing like a CoI service. A good volume of young people present at it too.

Never realised St. Catherines was CoI/Anglican. Thats a surprise

Neither did I to be honest until someone else pointed it out to me. It was nothing like a CoI service. Hard to categorize it really but it was very like the mega-church service I attended in the USA, i.e. music for the first 40 mins then the offering + notices, followed by 30 mins or so of a Pastor preaching.

The differences in worship styles among Anglicans is incredible. Hard to believe that CORE (based on your description) and St.Bartholomews (Anglo-Catholic) in Ballsbridge are in the same denomination, but there you go!

Just piping in as a West Dublin ND church attender. I know of many non-denominational churches in the Greater Blanchardstown area - I helped organise an interchurch symposium a couple of years ago where we had over 30 churches represented at it (inc mainstream parish / COI/ Methodist churches). If you want to PM me with your ideas of what you are looking for I may be able to point you in the right direction. Also let me know if you are looking for a certain language option - i.e Romanian, English, Yoruba, Igbo etc since some cater for those specifically "out west".

It might be helpful to post your list. I'd be interested in knowing what's out there now.
There was a time 30 years ago that I knew most of the churches in Dublin. Can't say the same now thankfully.

I have a list on a pdf document but it also contains personal contact details so I would be hesitant about linking to it (even if that were possible on Boards.ie?). IF anyone is interested then they can PM me and I can provide potentially a more pointed bit of direction. To give you an example of churches in the area though (though the nature of these things is that some congregations close and new churches are formed regularly in the area. i wouldn't be surprised if there are more options regarding language and practice these days):

Redeemed Christian Church of God (several parishes)
    Blanchardstown Baptist
    Open Doors
    The Potters House
    Pillar of Truth
    Vineyard of Life
    New Covenant Church
    Mountain of Fire and Miracles
General Foundation Apostolic Church of Christ
    Crosspoint North
    Betania Romanian Evangelical
    Romanian Orthodox
    Lucan Presbyterian
    Blanchardstown Methodist
    Church of Ireland parish churches
    Catholic Parish Churches
