New UK Tax Rules - How will it effect us?

From last Wednesday, October 1st, Uk motorists wont require paper tax discs. When the car is for sale and when someone buys it the tax ceases at point of car being purchased by new owner, so the phrase taxed and tested is now defunct.

As many from Ireland, including myself, tend to buy cars from there what are our options? Do we make straight for the ferry and hope for the best?

Under the new rules, seller gets refund of road tax when DVLA is notified about sale via the log book update. Therefore, I suppose that it could be argued that car is still taxed in UK until DVLA processes log book update.

the tax from the current month wont be refunded so I'd say you have a bit of breathing space providing you are sure it was taxed

Knowing some it'll be a mandatory 'Buy a second hand car, trailer it home'.....
