I have no sympathy whatsoever. Children cost money, and they made a choice to have a lot of them.

They had 13 children -> Fianna Fail and the banks ruined the countries finances -> One of the IMF's conditions for giving us bailout money was to introduce new taxes like water charges.

You're saying this couple should have known about water charges before anyone else in the country even considered they would be brought in.

Now I pretty much agree with water charges in theory but for the context with which they are being brought in they really annoy me. I think in the interest of fairness Irish water should be run as a 'cost neutral' company for the first 15 years, let people pay for usage and the installation of meters through a relatively low usage fee. Let all money raised within Irish Water be ring fenced to upgrade the network. Allow it to be a transparent organisation who doesn't award Denis O Brien contracts, let it be a company that doesn't pay astronomical 'consultant' fees.

Make it be about genuinely conserving water, let it be about saving the state money, let it be about raising funds to have world class water infrastructure. It's not about that though, it's just another stealth tax and another gravy train.
