Replacement Sky Box Question

    Hello

First time posting here! I have a quick question(s) about replacing sky boxes. I basically broke the rf2 output (no magic eye) on my basic sky box and am looking to replace it. Replacement sky boxes seem to be hard to find and expensive (50 euro on tvtrade) in Ireland. I priced a few for sale on Ebay and they were as cheap £9.99. So my question is I guess if you buy a sky box from an English seller does the channel line up (EPG I think its called) on it get switched to the Irish one when you pair to your Irish viewing card. Might sound like a silly question but I just need to check. Or if anyone knows a way to buy the basic sky box very cheaply in Ireland let me know!

I believe you could use any old Sky box,

you would however have to call sky and get them to set up your viewing card with the 'new' box,

once this is done, I believe the box will reconfigure itself to the Irish set up

might just be worth someone with a bit more experience commenting though before you buy anything

Yes any box will work as already advised, simply put in card before you plug it in. AVOID AT all costs any Grundig or Thomson made boxes and early Amstrad made boxes..Pace would be one of the best...

You will need to ring sky if an error bout card appears on screen to simply re-pair the card to your new box. If no error appears you may still need to ring if you have sports or movies on your account as then the box will definetly need re-matching to new box.

I thought that Sky were no longer pairing SD boxes now?

No, they will still pair a card to a SD box if you wish, I'd recommend people go with a HD box though.
