My favourite 1980s cartoons were as follows:

    (1) Transformers G1 cartoon (1984-1987/1988)
    (2) He-Man And The Masters Of The Universe (1983-1984)
    (3) She-Ra Princess Of Power (1985-1987) (He-Man Spinoff)
    (4) The Real Ghostbusters (1986-1991)
    (5) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987-1996)
    (6) Dogtanian And The Three Muskehounds
    (7) Around The World With Willy Fog

Got to mention, even though it wasn't really a cartoon, Thomas The Tank Engine And Friends (Seasons 1 (1984) & 2 (1986)
Those are mine. What are yours?

    In no particular order:

    Ghostbusters
    M.A.S.K
    Myterious Cities of Gold
    TMNT
    He-Man
    Bravestarr
    Dogtanian And The Three Muskehounds
    Transformers
    Inspector Gadget

There's probably more, but these all bring a smile to my face.
    Good times :)

Battle of the planets was the first cartoon I can clearly remember seeing as a four / five year old kid, in particular that R2-D2-like robot, 7-Zark-7!

Yus! Got around to rewatching the entire series there a few years back, on the way in and out of work on the train.

Trying to get my hands on "The Mysterious Cities of Gold", as I'm meaning to watch the series again in order.

Did that cartoon have a song in it which went like:
"We are children of the sun, searching for...(??????)
Aaaa aa aaaa,we wish to find the cities of gold,
Aaaa aa aa,one day we will find the city of gold."?

Was there another cartoon similar to that from around the same time, which had characters
named Nat,Rebecca an Arcanna-and what was the name of that cartoon?

Can anyone remember a cartoon named "Prince Valiant"?
I remember there used to be a cheesey enough song at the start of it which went like:

"....and on this beach I see a million grains of sand...
    Out there,the truth lies,
Out beyond these barren surrounds,I cry without a sound.....
    "

Yep, I was thinking of this a few days ago. Initially thought it was Prince Valiant and the Knights of the Round table but it had the title The Legend of Prince Valiant.

I remember, I think BBC2 airing Once Upon a Time.... Space. Which was a real space opera of a saga.

Obsessed by space ships at the time, even though the 'story' plodded along somewhat.

    Opening was rather ace.

I was talking to some Dutch friends this evening. It seems Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds was a childhood favourite for them in the 80's as well!

They don't remember Lolek and Bolek or other Iron Curtain era cartoons, so the controller in NPO (their equivalent of RTE) mustn't have been a member of the local communist party.
