I know somebody who is in a competition to win a 5000 euro charity grant. One of the other competitors charity event is to cycle the world to raise awareness of suicide. Called pedal the planet or something. Is this not ridiculous?

He wants to get the grant to help him cycle around the world. Like I'm pretty aware what suicide is.

So does anyone else think it is nuts to pay for somebody to cycle around the world?

I'm sick of people using a good cause in order to guilt the rest of us into funding their vacation. How does my paying for you to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro or cycle through Hungary help a foundation - wouldn't the organization be better off if I just cut them a check directly?

It's actually disgusting. He apparently got 55000 euro in sponsorship to cycle around the world with none of it going to any charity.

    MOD

People can decide to donate to whatever charity they want and don't need you telling them which is better or more worthwhile
