Tonnes of stuff all around there. I'm just back from a trip to Sierra Nevada. Loads of big climbs. Not done Pico Veleta but I know a few who have. It is very long.

I stayed in Cadiar and there is no shortage of routes.

    This was a lovely road.

I went north to south, but the other way would be just as nice I think.

Was in Nerja at the end of May only got out for a few short spins. A steady intake of beer and tapas are not conducive to getting out early to avoid cutting into family time. (They are also not good for weight either ended up 3-4kg heavier than I've been in the 5 years since I started cycling!)

Lovely roads to cycle and I found the drivers to very good around cyclists. Probably going back next year so will make a effort to get out on proper spins. That Pico-velta climbs looks savage would love to try it but to far really to cycle from Nerja unless I take a full day. Might hire a car next time though.

Main two climbs I found near Nerja

Longest I did 11k 6% sound's ok! constant ramps of 15-20% with flats or even slight down hill sections.

This was worse only 3.8k @ 9% except with 25% plus ramps one at the start was over 30% and is the closest I've come to having to get of and walk even though the rental bike had a compact. I had take to zig zaging across the road few times. I've never even come close to having to do that in Ireland on a standard crankset.

The roads were constant ups and downs even a 40k spin down the coast road took over 700m of climbing.

That route looks good Raam and close enough to Nerja to cycle out to.
